A 60-page scan is awkward when the person you are emailing only needs pages 12 to 14. Splitting lets you send just that part, and keeps the file small enough for upload limits.
With page ranges, each range you type becomes its own PDF. Typing "1-3, 5, 8-10" gives three files. If you would rather have all those pages in a single PDF, tick "Put all ranges into one file".
Splitting every N pages is handy for bulk scans: forty one-page invoices scanned as a single document become forty separate files in one step.
Questions and answers
How do I write page ranges?
Use a hyphen for a range and commas between ranges: 1-3, 5, 8-10. Page numbers start at 1 and follow the order in the file.
What do I get when there are several parts?
A ZIP file containing every part, each named with its page numbers.
Does splitting change the pages?
No. Pages are copied as they are, with their text, images and size.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
